Meet Your Teachers
Mrs. Wohlschlaeger
My name is Lisa Wohlschlaeger and I have had the honor teaching for 8 years. My path to Penny Road has been a winding and adventurous one and I'd like to share just a bit of my background and experiences that led me here!
I have always had a passion for children: interacting with them, watching them build connections, and grow. I operated a registered in-home childcare center for 9 years while my three children were young, but always dreamed of going back to school to become a teacher. My dream was realized when I received a Masters degree in education and began teaching public school! I began teaching for Durham Public Schools where I spent 2 years teaching early childhood education and parenting/child development courses to high school students. From there, I became certified to teach elementary and joined Wake County Public schools 6 years ago, where I have taught Elementary Spanish, 2nd grade, and Kindergarten. I have had the pleasure of being a Penny Road Parent for the last 6 years, and now I have the added pleasure of becoming part of this incredible team who all share the same passions for children that led me here. |
How to pronounce Wohlschlaeger
I know my last name looks challenging, but I can assure you, your child will learn how to say it very quickly!
Surprisingly, adults seem to struggle a lot more than children. So, I developed a pictogram to help students and families learn to pronounce my name. I have found this has helped...and if not...you can always just call me "Mrs. W.":)
"Wool" + "shhh" + "leg" + "grrr"
Mrs. Katz
More information coming soon!
My name is Catherine Katz, and I am Mrs. Wohlschlaeger's class TA. I am new on staff at Penny Road this year, but have been around the school since 2006, when my son, Josh, started Kindergarten! My daughter, Sarah, also went all six years at PRE! Now, they are starting their Junior and Freshman years at Apex Friendship High School We moved to NC in 2002 from Colorado and my husband Joe, works at SAS. I have had my own business for the past 10 years, but decided with all the school activities that come with high school (mostly band) that I would love to be in the classroom!
